Bathymetry Perspective Views

Friday August 14, 1998

Perspective view looking south from Incline in Crystal Bay towards South Lake Tahoe. Colored area is the lake bathymetry, grayscale is land, black is area not yet mapped. Vertical exaggeration is 4x. The view shows a large perched channel with 80m high walls and a 200m wide floor with 8m high bedforms with wavelength of ~150m. The channel leads down to the lake floor (dark purple). A large "delta wedge" (light and dark blue) ~3.5km long has formed on the basin floor representing a large volume of sediment that has been funneled down this path. The bedforms suggest very energetic sediment flows.
